Theatre reviews: Justine and Tony, Paradise In The Vault (Venue 29), Edinburgh

TONY is a gormless 1980s obsessive in a jokeshop wig, who refuses to give up his Betamax video and believes that real music comes from the likes of Glenn Medeiros.

Justine And Tony

Paradise In The Vault (Venue 29)

Star rating: * *

Justine is a carping cabaret singer who is disgusted by Tony’s time-locked tastes.

Unfortunately, they are married. From its groan-worthy slapstick to its back-of-an-envelope plot, sophisticated humour this is not. Yet, somehow, there are some cheap’n’cheerful laughs to be had in this daft comedy aimed at fans of Benidorm or Phoenix Nights.

• Until 11 August. Today 3:45pm.
