Theatre review: Wrong Place, Right Time, Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters (Venue 272), Edinburgh
THIS episodic show is aptly named, since you would be forgiven for thinking you were at the wrong venue unless you happened to spot the bus parked at the Free Sisters… Wrong Place, Right Time comprises three stories, each one a monologue.

Bawdy and blowsy, Sophie Willan’s An Audience Without You is an energetic piece of stand-up (it didn’t come across as a show “that explores the effects of abandonment”, as it was billed) in which she explores how she became so in touch with her “inner granny”.
It’s not all in the best possible taste (we could have done without the knicker crisis gambit), but it proved more engaging than The Secret Life of You, which despite some laughs (nipple-tassel-wearers watch out) and some audience interaction, was a slightly uncomfortable experience as performer Lowri Evans didn’t seem at ease.
The most accomplished and entertaining episode was the first. Leonie Higgins’ I May Not Be Where I Intended to Go might have an unprepossessing title but it was an enjoyable and wry temp’s eye view of the office place, with the occasional moment of out-loud laughter.
