Scotsman.com takes an exclusive look at the making of Scottish Ballet’s Olympic-inspired Run For It

This autumn Scottish Ballet will present its first triple bill season under new Artistic Director Christopher Hampson, the opening piece in which was inspired by the Olympic Games.

Run For It had its world premiere as part of this summer’s Cultural Olympiad, and will now be touring Scotland alongside the other works in the trilogy, Workwithinwork, by Hans van Manen, and William Forsythe’s Five Tangos.

Scotsman.com, media partner of Scottish Ballet’s Autumn Season 2012, takes an exclusive look at Run For It, in this video featuring interviews with choreographer Martin Lawrance, who talks about the inspiration he took for the piece from Olympic events, including the discus and the pole vault, and the power and beauty of the athletes.

Turner Prize winner Martin Boyce, who created a sculptural installation for the set, also talks about his experience working with Scotland’s national dance company.

Scottish Ballet’s Autumn Season 2012 will tour to Theatre Royal Glasgow (4 – 6 October), Festival Theatre Edinburgh (11 – 13 October), Eden Court Inverness (16 – 17 October) and His Majesty’s Aberdeen (16 – 17 October).
