Revamp of Fringe venue close to completion

Finishing touches are being made to a well-known Festival Fringe venue after an 18-month refurbishment.

A revamped Assembly Rooms in George Street, Edinburgh, is expected to be ready on 19 July and will reopen two days later.

The final crystals were hung on the ballroom’s chandeliers as the £9.3 million refurbishment of the building nears completion. Richard Lewis, culture and leisure convener for City of Edinburgh Council, said: “The work is now approaching its final stages.”
