Elementary Xmas for Peepolykus
Javier Marzan as Sherlock, and John Nicholson as Watson, who are appearing in The Arthur Conan Doyle Appreciation Society at the Traverse.
ARTHUR Conan Doyle, creator of the world’s most famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr Watson might not, at first glance, appear to be the most obvious choice of character for a Christmas show.
However, that hasn’t stopped the Traverse from teaming up with masters of physical comedy, Peepolykus, to bring one of Edinburgh’s best loved figures, Arthur Conan Doyle, back to life for a seasonal celebration.
This riotous show brings leading advocate for spiritualism, Conan Doyle, face to face with his rationalist creation, Holmes, in a show fusing lecture, storytelling and slapstick comedy. Co-written by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, it continues the Traverse’s four-year old tradition of offering an alternative show at Christmas.
The Arthur Conan Doyle Appreciation Society, Traverse Theatre, Cambridge Street, Tuesday-22 December (not Sundays/Mondays), 7.30pm (matinees 2.30pm), £11-£17.50, 0131-228 1404
