One Great Thing for two campaigns

BOTH sides in the Scottish independence debate have been accused by rock band Big Country of using one of its songs without permission.

The Scottish band, pictured right in the 1980s, is disputing the use of One Great Thing, by band members Stuart Adamson and Tony Butler.

However, the Yes Campaign, launched last month, said it had obtained copyright permission to use a new version of the track as its official theme tune.

Their opponents, the Better Together said the music was a new track Down Under, by Scottish DJ/Producer Munroso, which “neither samples, nor uses, nor is inspired by Big Country”.

A spokesman for the band said: “The band had no part in this and do not approve at all.

“They would never take sides where politics or religion are concerned.”
