Noisettes ready to make some noise for Homecoming
TOP UK music act The Noisettes have signed up to play at The Gathering, the centrepiece of Scotland's Year of Homecoming celebrations.
The three-piece band will close the two-day festival in Holyrood Park later this month, following appearances by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Capercaillie.
The Noisettes' latest single, Don't Upset the Rhythm, reached No2 in the UK charts earlier this year. The band are based in London, but drummer James Morrison is originally from Falkirk and guitarist Dan Smith has a Scottish father.
Morrison said: "It'll be like a proper homecoming for me, as I live in Edinburgh when I'm not on the road, and we all have family connections in Scotland, so we'll be asking them all along for the gig."
The legendary Scottish singer and songwriter Jim Diamond is also set to join the celebration. Best known for his solo hits Hi Ho Silver and his No1 I Should Have Known Better, the Glasgow-born artist will open the second day of the programme on Sunday, 26 July.
Diamond said: "It's always fantastic to come home to sing."
