New Prince songs emerge online

Waiting for Video...

Pop star Prince could be set for a return to the limelight after a new song was posted on his website.

Last week there were rumours of a Prince tour when the flamboyant star played a string of “jam sessions” in his native Minneapolis.

The diminutive funk-pop icon booked six last-minute shows at a jazz club in his hometown, and the Duluth News Tribune reported that the 54-year-old star was using the gigs to audition a new drummer.

Now the pop-funk star has posted a full studio version of new song ‘Screwdriver’ on his website, after a snippet was posted on Twitter.

No further live dates have been announced, but the new material and the fact that Prince is trying out a new live drummer has prompted rumours of a tour later in the year.

His last album, ‘20Ten’, was released two years ago as a free covermount with the Mail On Sunday newspaper.
