Military wives on the march with record-breaking video
Gareth Malone joined an army of military wives as their ranks swelled to more than 600 for the launch of their new album yesterday. The choristers were attempting to set a new world record for the biggest music video shoot.
The wives assembled at Wellington Barracks in London with choirmaster Malone to launch Stronger Together which features renditions of tracks such as Take That’s Rule The World.
The album features choirs from as far away as Germany and Cyprus and two of the tracks feature 760 members of the combined ensembles which now number 50. Malone – awarded an OBE in the summer – has also been made the first patron of the new Military Wives Choirs Foundation, set up to support a growing network of choirs on military bases. The first choir he created found huge success last year as the focus of a BBC2 documentary series and went on to have a Christmas number one, Wherever You Are, beating The X Factor winners Little Mix to the prized position.
