Gig review: Enter Shikari, T in the Park

ST ALBANS post-hardcore quartet Enter Shikari took to the stage to scenes of genuine hysteria, as a predominantly younger crowd packed the arena in anticipation of an electrifying live show.

Enter Shikari - NME Stage

Rating: ****

The band has gone in a more political direction recently compared to their previous albums, with recent album A Flash Flood of Colour containing several lyrics about capitalism and government activity.

Breakthrough hit Sorry You’re Not a Winner got an early airing, as did recent single Destabilise. The band’s seemingly endless energy has been a staple of their concerts since they formed in the mid-noughties, with frontman Rou Reynolds racing about the stage whilst guitarist Rory Clewlow and bassist Chris Batten slinging their instruments around with near-reckless abandon. Marrying elements of electronica with rock, the band has even taken to remixing their own songs live on stage, evident in their reworking of early hit ‘Mothership.’

Whatever your music tastes however, there’s no denying that Enter Shikari put on a phenomenal live show, managing to both surprise and satisfy their fans.
