Emeli Sande’s album hits top spot
EMELI Sande – the Aberdeenshire-raised singer – went straight in at number one in the charts with her debut album Our Version Of Events last night.
Her single, Next to Me debuted at No 2, beaten by DJ Fresh featuring Rita with Hot Right Now. The winner of the 2012 Brit Awards Critics Choice gong was raised in Alford and studied medicine for three years at the University of Glasgow.
One Direction shot up the charts to No 9, all the way from No 26, with their single One Thing.
Three of Whitney Houston’s songs were in the top 40, with I Will Always Love You at No 14, I Wanna Dance With Somebody at No 20 and One Moment In Time at number 40.
Her Greatest Hits album went straight in at No 7.
