TWO of Scotland’s leading female singer-songwriters were today confirmed on the line-up for one of the country’s biggest music festivals.

Amy Macdonald has joined iconic Scottish rockers Primal Scream as a headliner of Wickerman, in Dumfriesshire.

Organisers have also revealed that KT Tunstall will also be appearing at the two-day event, which was first held in 2001 and was inspired by the classic horror film The Wicker Man. Previous headliners have included The Human League, the Undertones, Gary Numan, The Stranglers and The Buzzcocks.

Another iconic band from the 1970s and 1980s, Dexys Midnight Runners (now officially known as Dexys), will be appearing, along with indie favourites The Enemy and English folk stars Bellowhead. Also added to the bill today are singer-songwriters Roddy Hart, from Glasgow, and Londoner King Charles.

Festival co-ordinator Helen Chalmers added: “‘Wickerman prides itself on offering festivalgoers a truly diverse line-up, so it is fantastic to announce acts that cross so many different genres of music.

“With Amy Macdonald, The Enemy and KT Tunstall joining Primal Scream, we are confident that this year’s festival will be the ultimate summer party and we are looking forward to announcing further exciting line-up additions over the coming months.”

Macdonald added: “I’m really looking forward to headlining the festival. I love being able to play in Scotland and I have heard the Wickerman audience are a great crowd to play for.”

Tickets for Wickerman are on sale now.
