Album review: Man Overboard
IAN HUNTER Man Overboard * * * New West, £11.74
Hunter has always been something of a guilty pleasure, neither Dylan nor Bowie but a reassuringly hairy in between, spikily confrontational or yobbishly sloganeering.
Ahead of the looming Mott The Hoople reunion he presents his second solo album in three years, and it is the measure of the predecessor, Shrunken Heads. His heartfelt ballads such as Way With Words continue to be invested with a wide-eyed emotion even as he approaches 70.
The Great Escape and Arms And Legs suggest he still has something to say. Girl From The Office is probably best kept to himself.
