Album review: Warsaw Village Band

WARSAW VILLAGE BAND Infinity **** Jaro Records JRCD4289, £13.70

The marvellously accomplished Polish acoustic band, and Edinburgh Fringe favourites, who re-synthesised the fading traditions of Polish folk music for a post-Communist generation, have turned their imaginations and forceful vocal harmony from the past to the future. In this fourth album, cellist Maja Kleszcz and violinist Wojtek Krzak have written original songs that brilliantly set their contemporary, self-confident music in a new world music context, rhythmically infused with hip-hop, soul, blues, klezmer, African, Scandinavian and even some Asian influences.
