Adele speaks of pride after Grammy Award success

SINGER Adele has described her Grammy Award success as “the most incredible night” of her life.

She said she was still coming to terms with the night and laughed off suggestions she will take a five-year break.

The chart-topping Brit, who landed six prizes at Sunday’s music awards bash in Los Angeles, said the event was “the most incredible night of my life”.

In a blog she said she was swinging between laughter and tears as she recalled the evening which rewarded her record-breaking album 21.

And she countered a suggestion that she was planning an extended break from the music world, following comments in a magazine interview.

She wrote: “I’ve a few days off now, and then it’s the Brit Awards here at home and then I’m straight into the studio. BOYYAHH! Five years? More like five days.”

The Grammys - at which she won every award for which she was nominated - saw her make her performing comeback following surgery in the US late last year.

Adele, 23, had been warned unless she had the operation on her vocal cords she risked losing her singing voice forever. She was forced to cancel a string of shows in late 2011 after her voice gave up.

Writing about the ceremony, she said she was “flabbergasted” by her awards haul.

“In between laughing my head off, welling up, needing to sit down and trying to maintain an open fire (which is pretty much impossible huh!?), I keep having flashbacks to Sunday night.

“The most incredible night of my life. Thank you to you all, I am so overwhelmed, it’s the strangest feeling. I have constant butterflies and goosebumps, it’s wearing me out but I love it.

“I’ve been sleeping a lot but the minute I wake up I burst out laughing and it starts all over again.

Adele said she thank personally all the people she had forgotten to name as she accepted the awards.

“I was totally unprepared. Despite the phenomenal year, I swear I didn’t think I had any chance. All the categories were full of people I adore with brilliant songs, records and performances.

“So not in my wildest dreams did I think to actually prepare anything proper to say just in case.”

And she thanked fans for their loyal support and word of mouth support for her album 21.

“It’s evolved into something that we should all be very proud of. All of this is yours - the songs, the shows, the moments like this. Not that there’s any other moments like this one, but you get my drift,” she added.
