Motorists are driving on slip roads in slippers and on high roads in high heels, according to a survey. Some also take the controls wearing flip-flops, while others drive in bare feet, the poll by Confused.com found.
Around 10 per cent of motorists surveyed have driven in slippers, while 40 per cent of women admitted to driving in high heels. The main slipper-wearers were men aged 25-34. The poll also found 27 per cent of men and 39 per cent of women had driven in flip-flops, while 22 per cent of men and 24 per cent of women have driven barefoot.
Julie Townsend of road safety charity Brake, said: “It’s worrying that many drivers have such little regard for their own and others’ safety.”
