France is our home’

With the attacks in Paris dominating much of the news agenda over the past week, there have been some touching rays of humanity amidst all the tragedy. One such moment was caught by French broadcaster Le Petit Journal, who filmed a conversation between a father and his frightened child at Place de la République. The video, uploaded to Facebook, has been viewed over fourteen million times and left many eyes a little teary along the way.

Musician plays Imagine on travelling piano

Following the events at iconic Parisian concert venue Bataclan concert hall, German musician Davide Martello hitched his grand piano to a trailer and traveled 400 miles through the night to play for mourners gathered outside the venue. His rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine soon became a touching online video.

Martello is well-known for travelling around to conflict zones with piano in tow and has been recognised by the European Parliament for his “contribution to European cooperation and promoting common values.”

John Oliver delivers sweary tribute to Paris

Last Week Tonight presenter John Oliver started his weekly news round-up with some much-needed cathartic profanity. The UK comedian and former Daily Show correspondent launched a tirade on the terrorists littered with four-letter words as he explained that “if you’re in a war of culture and lifestyle with France... good f****ing luck!”

Despite the HBO show being unavailable in the UK, a recording of the sweary uploaded to Youtube has received over four million views since Sunday.

Charlie Sheen reveals he is HIV positive

Following speculation over the last few weeks that an unnamed Hollywood actor had been diagnosed with HIV, Charlie Sheen confirmed his condition on US TV show Today.

In the eight-minute video, Sheen explains he was diagnosed with HIV over four years ago and has been the subject of blackmail from those in his inner circle who threatened to make his condition public.

Zoolander sequel trailer unveiled

The world of high fashion has always been ripe for ridicule, but none have pulled it off quite as well as well the 2001 film Zoolander. Now, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson return to the world of the really, really ridiculously good-looking after fifteen years for a hugely anticipated sequel. Since being posted online on Wednesday, the first trailer has clocked up 5 million views. We’re willing half of those are just to gawp at Benedict Cumberbatch, sans eyebrows.
