Miller wants Star to go one better

ALAN MILLER is hoping Newtongrange Star can go one better than last year and win the Dechmont Forklift League Cup.

Miller’s men host Sauchie in the semi-finals tonight, with Linlithgow Rose – Star’s conquerors in last season’s final – awaiting the winners.

Tonight’s game is a reverse of last season’s last-four clash which Newtongrange won 2-1.

Miller said: “We always have good games against Sauchie. We’ve played them a lot in recent seasons and they are a good side.

“We’ll be looking on this as a great chance to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat against Ballingry. The players are all looking forward to redeeming themselves and a big game like this is ideal.

“Sauchie are a real threat and rightly won the Premier League last season and, already this year are proving their worth in the Super League.

“We beat them last season at Sauchie and we’ll go into this game expecting another tough tie. But we have a good record in this competition and another spot in the final would give us a boost for the rest of the season.”
