Potentially losing your talismanic striker ahead of the start of the season is not the best way to get the new campaign underway. That, however, could be the situation Rangers find themselves in when they travel to Aberdeen on Saturday for their first Scottish Premiership fixture.
Alfredo Morelos has been heavily linked with a move to French side Lille who are keen on the Colombian to help replace Nigerian Victor Osimhen who is nearing a huge move to Napoli. The good news is that Rangers would have plenty of time to get a replacement in before the transfer window shuts, bad news is that it isn’t great for the team in the short term.

The Livingston ace is unlikely to be the answer as Morelos’ replacement. If he was to arrive at Ibrox after a fantastic first season in the Premiership it would be alongside other forward options. Would give Rangers a completely different option with plenty of attributes. Photo: Gary Hutchison - SNS Group
2. Ivan Toney
Linked to a plethora of teams, including the Old Firm, with Peterborough United set to sell their star striker this summer. Cost may be a factor with Brentford reportedly leading the way. Photo: Luke Walker
3. Kemar Roofe
The former Leeds United star was wanted by Rangers before his move to Anderlecht. Hasn’t played as much as he would have liked but still has a decent goalscoring record of seven in 16. At Leeds United was an all-action focal point. Photo: Dean Mouhtaropoulos
4. Josh Maja
One of the key figures in part two of the Sunderland Netflix documentary. Was key to their promotion hopes before moving to Bordeaux. At 21, bags of potential for the club to develop. The Nigerian international can score goals due to his desire to run in behind and movement in the box. Photo: JEAN-PHILIPPE KSIAZEK
