Lost Glasgow: Glasgow Green station

Glasgow Green railway station once serviced the line running through Glasgow Central and out into the east end of the city and beyond.

The station was opened on November 1, 1895 and after closing in 1917 during the war effort, reopened on 1 June 1919.

It closed for good in 1953 although the line passing through it remained open.

The lettering of the station name, which was visible until its demolition, was the same style used at other Caledonian Stations, most notably the main canopy of Glasgow Central.

In March this year the station, which had been bricked up and had its platforms removed, was demolished.
