ONE of the top tourist attractions in the North east of Scotland, Fraserburgh’s Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, has been badly damaged in an attack by vandals.

Grampian Police today revealed that the force is investigating a “high-value” incident of vandalism.

Three windows of the museum’s cafe, which overlooks the shoreline, were smashed between 5pm on Monday and 9am on Tuesday Others were damaged.

A force spokesman said: “A valued part of Fraserburgh’s history, the Lighthouse Museum is a popular attraction for visitors from across Scotland and the damage caused could have serious implications.”

Constable Richard Cooper from the Fraserburgh Local Policing Team said: ‘’The museum attracts many people to Fraserburgh and is a great asset to the local community.

“Many people go there to use the cafe and look at the views across the sea and the local wildlife, but unfortunately due to this mindless act the windows are now boarded up.

“I would urge the community to get behind our investigation and contact us with any information which may assist us in tracing those responsible.’’
