Third Division roundup: Spiders climb to top after convincing win

Queen’s Park ease past Elgin; Annan notch up win against Peterhead; Berwick smash four past Stirling and East Stirling record victory over Clyde.

Queen’s Park soared to the top of the table after an impressive win.

Lawrence Shankland’s put the visitors ahead on 29 minutes and three minutes later Anthony Quinn added a second. Jamie Longworth hit the third before Shankland netted his second late on.

Annan 2, Peterhead 1

The hosts took a second minute lead when Graeme Ramage latched on to David Murray’s pass before finishing past Mark McCallum.

Ramage turned provider in the 56th minute to set up Michael Daly for Annan’s second before Martin Bavidge notched a late consolation.

Berwick 4, Stirling 1

LEE Currie blasted the hosts into a 17th minute lead and Darren Lavery doubled their tally on the stroke of half-time.

John Ferguson’s 62nd minute strike gave Berwick a three-goal cushion and Ferguson was on target again late on after Jordan White pulled one back for Stirling.

East Stirling 3, Clyde 0

PAUL Quinn was the supplier for Kevin Turner’s 25th minute opener before Michael Hunter’s pass helped Quinn to score himself six minutes before the interval.
