Something for the weekend: Tequila Slammer
Just as Scotch is distilled in Scotland, and champagne in the Champagne region of France, a real tequila must be distilled in the village of Tequila, Mexico. It is here that the blue cactus-like agave called tequilus weber, from which the drink is made, grows freely.
It is safe to say, however, that the tequila slammer is consumed more for the sensation enjoyed by the people who drink it than its actual taste. True authenticity demands only that it comes served in a shooter glass.
1 part tequila; 1 part ginger ale or champagne
Half fill a shooter glass with tequila, then add the fizz. Cover the top of the glass with either your hand or a napkin, slam on a hard surface and consume quickly.
