Walkers Shortbread to expand Aberlour factory
Walkers Shortbread are to increase capacity
SIXTY new full and part-time jobs are set to be created on Speyside following a major expansion of one of Scotland’s best-known businesses, it was revealed today.
A new factory is being built at the Walkers Shortbread complex at Aberlour on Speyside and the additional staff will be recruited once the new premises are completed in May of next year.
Nicky Walker, director of Walkers Shortbread Ltd, said: “After a period of consideration, we are delighted that the new project is finally underway. This new production facility will allow us to expand and reorganise our production operations company-wide, with the initial creation of around 60 new jobs.
“Our factories are the life blood of the company and as such it is vital that they portray our company image. We are extremely proud of our reputation for excellence and as a market leader, it is essential we work in conjunction with like- minded partners. “
The new 3,500 square metre factory is being built by the Robertson construction group. A company spokeswoman explained: “Along with production facilities the project will deliver new storage areas, offices, a staff canteen, meeting room and reception area. An existing steading building will also be refurbished.”
