A GLENEAGLES restaurant has topped the Sunday Times’ annual Food List of the UK’s best restaurants.

Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles opened in Perth and Kinross 11 years ago, and came seventh in last year’s voting. It has been awarded two Michelin stars, and is the first Scottish winner of the annual award. The restaurant is one of seven Scottish entries is the 100-strong results.

Head Chef Andrew Fairlie said: “Our customers like that we have evolved without going off and following trends.

“Some new techniques I can use, but with others I just think ‘no’. It’s about having confidence in your menu.”

The Food List ranks 100 of Britain’s top restaurants on food quality, and is compiled from over 75,000 individual reports by diners.
