Trailer of the week: Taken 2

Waiting for Video...

Taken 2? Didn’t he find his daughter at the end of the last one?

Yes, all seemed to have been resolved with the big happy ending.

So where exactly is this one going then?

Well, you’ve still got Liam Neeson playing a retired CIA agent, crying daughters, kidnappings and guns. So basically, nowhere.

Surely not. There must be something different from the first one?

OK, a few changes. This time it’s Neeson and his wife getting kidnapped, but judging from the trailer that seems to be pretty much the only difference. You still have the “You will be taken” phone calls, lots of chases, lots of shooting and Liam Neeson’s “I can deal with this” facial expression.

Another film idea recycled to make a quick buck then? Hardly seems worth it.

If you haven’t seen the first one then this might- be worth a watch; if you have, though, you’ll probably feel as if you’ve seen it all before. Having said that, the car chases look relatively exciting, and Istanbul, the setting for the film, looks to have some impressive architecture.

The architecture? Scraping the barrel a bit here.

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing. If you like car chases, beautiful buildings and experiencing a strong sense of déjà vu then put 5 October in your diary.
