DIRECTOR Christopher Nolan has defended fans who have taken to internet message boards to voice their anger at negative reviews of his new film, The Dark Knight Rises.
While most reviews have been complimentary of Nolan’s film, some reviewers have been less impressed with the third and final entry into Nolan’s Batman trilogy, prompting vehement reaction from fans on the internet. One review aggregator, RottenTomatoes.com, was forced to close its comments section after being inundated with venomous remarks from those voicing their disapproval of negative reviews hosted on the site.
Speaking at the European premiere of The Dark Knight Rises in London’s Leicester Square, Nolan said: “I think the fans are very passionate about these characters the way a lot of people are very passionate. Batman’s been around for over 70 years and there’s a reason for that. He has a huge appeal, so I think you know people certainly respond to the character.”
The Dark Knight Rises will open across the UK from tomorrow.
