Katharine Hepburn costumes to go on display
THE trademark khakis and open-collared shirts worn by Katharine Hepburn in her prime were deemed highly unconventional during the 1930s and 1940s.
Now an exhibition running at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is hailing the Hollywood actress as one of 20th century’s true trend setters.
Hepburn, left, who died in 2003 at the age of 96, was famed for saving almost all of her costumes from a film career that delivered four Oscars.
A total of 40 outfitsincluding a suit wornto promote the 1967 movie, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, amongst the treasures.
