After the discombobulating Dogtooth, Greek director Giorgos Lanthimos is back with another dark absurdity, this time about a group known as the Alps who offer therapy for grieving relatives by impersonating their dearly departed. Emphatically weird, watchable and niche.
On release from Friday
Up There (15)

Zam Salim’s wry, dry dramedy envisions purgatory as a grindingly slow bureaucracy. After being knocked down by a car, Martin (Burn Gorman) can only look on gloomily as his best friend puts the moves on his grieving spouse. Glasgow and Saltcoats are the main locations for the dead walking the earth.
Ernest & Celestine (PG)

Delightful French animation about a mouse who goes on the run with a bear, once he has agreed not to eat her.
Glasgow Film Theatre, Saturday
