DVD review: Red State
What is it? The latest film by Clerks director Kevin Smith made lots of headlines, less for its content than for the way he chose to distribute it – by taking it on a US tour, rock concert style, and introducing the film each night himself in a different city.
The film, a violent, visceral tale of religious fanaticism, had a more conventional release in the UK, but there’s a flavour of the US experience with the various DVD extras, which include characteristically frank, funny chats between Smith and members of the cast and crew.
What we said: “A mildly inventive chiller.”
