New app turns iPhone into universal remote control
It’s a satnav, a camera, and a games console, and now your iPhone can be a universal remote control.
It can already be used to play video, edit photos, and pinpoint its user’s location anywhere on the globe, and now the iPhone spreading its wings and helping out other gadgets thanks to a new add-on.
The Satechi ST-URB1 allows the iPhone to be used to control every other piece of technology in the home, all through a single application.
The device plugs into the iPhone’s headphone jack, and turns the smartphone into an infra-red remote control for televisions, set-top boxes and stereos.
The gadget works with an app which allows the user to control the settings if each individual piece of kit separately.
The device is available direct from the manufacturer for $25.
