AS THE time draws near to the London Olympics, we ask which of Scotland’s internationals could feature for Stuart Pearce’s controversial Team GB this summer

James Forrest, 20-years-old (Celtic)

The young Celtic winger has already expressed a willingness to be selected for the Team GB squad, and the winger’s good form for Celtic this season may see Forrest’s desire reciprocated should Stuart Pearce have his way.

Barry Bannan, 22-years-old (Aston Villa)

Aside from a drink-driving conviction that put the brakes on his progress last year, Bannan has given an otherwise accomplished showing of himself in the Premier League for Aston Villa. Alex McLeish has also given his backing for the midfielder’s inclusion in the Team GB squad.

Steven Naismith, 25-years-old (Rangers)

“You’d be crazy not to consider it” was Naismith’s verdict on the possibility of his inclusion in Stuart Pearce’s squad. Even as an overage player, Naismith’s versatility in attack would make him a worthwhile candidate for consideration.

Scott Brown, 26-years-old (Celtic)

Brown’s combative qualities have already been recognised by Team GB selectors, who invited the Scotland midfielder to committ to the possibility of being selected late last year.

Charlie Adam, 26-years-old (Liverpool)

Darren Fletcher’s enforced absence gives Charlie Adam the role as Scotland’s foremost midfield option. The ex-Rangers man has improved remarkably since his move to the Premiership.

Grant Adam, 20-years-old (Rangers)

The young Rangers goalkeeper and brother of Charlie Adam has been mooted as a possible candidate, though his recent court appearance over alleged sectarian abuse will have done his chances no favours.
