Optimo's JG Wilkes and JD Twitch

Optimo's JG Wilkes and JD Twitch

There may not be a street party in Glasgow this year, but there are still plenty of things to keep you occupied around town at the bells. Scotsman.com runs down the best of what’s going on in Glasgow as the bells approach

Subculture NYE 2012

Sub Club, Jamaica Street

10.30pm - 4am, £15

One of Scotland’s most revered house and techno club nights host a special New Year’s Eve party with regular residents Harri & Domenic, plus a range of special guests who will help the club herald the end of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

Club Noir Hogmanay

Classic Grand, Jamaica Street

9pm - 4am, £20

An opulent burlesque party across two floors, soundtracked by raunchy, gothic-tinged music from DJ Loveless and Sailor Tony. Get your Sunday best out for this one.

La Cheetah and Vitamins present Terrence Parker

La Cheetahs, 72 Queen Street

10pm - 4am, £15/20

Basement club La Cheetah welcome house music legend Terrence Parker to help bring in the bells. Parker, famous for using a telephone handset instead of headphones, will be at the fulcrum of a party that boasts a high-spec sound system, special lighting and even fans to keep dancers cool. Can’t say fairer than that.

The Flying Duck Hogmanay Party: Common People & BIS

The Flying Duck, Renfield Street

9pm - 4am, £10-15

A treasure trove of 90s music from the Common People DJs, plus live guests BIS and a spot of bingo in the nostalgia-leaning Kitchen area, decked out in 60s decorations.

Optimo & Auntie Flo

The Glue Factory, 22 Farnell Street

10pm - 4am, £20

Optimo duo JD Twitch and JG Wilkes host their annual Hogmanay bash at the Glue Factory for the second year running, with pan-global dance music duo Auntie Flo also providing the entertainment, if you can tear yourself away from the karaoke in the toilets, that is.

Horse Meat Disco NYE!

The Berkeley Suite, North Street

10pm - 4am, £15/20

Disco aficionados should look no further than Horse Meat Disco at the Berkeley Suite, aided by DJ BIlly Woods, as the sounds of Donna Summer, Chic et al massage your ears until the small hours.

Cathouse NYE

Cathouse, Union Street

11pm - 4am

A melting pot of metal, rock, punk etc at the Cathouse. Expect a die-hard crowd of regular revellers to thrash along with at the bells.
