Game review: Ratchet & Clank: QForce

Ratchet & Clank was an innovative sci-fi platformer with a great sense of humour when first released on the PS2 in 2002.

Ratchet & Clank: QForce

PS3, SCE, £12.99

While every game has been entertaining, the franchise was in need of a shake-up, but whether QForce is what fans were craving is questionable. It blends the classic elements of R&C with a tower defence model, resulting in a strange hybrid of platforming, shooting and hands-on defensive tactics. This involves exploring the battlefield to activate key switches while keeping an eye on your base so you can rush back to repel alien hordes, meaning you spend a lot of time retracing your steps. Things are better in multiplayer and the low price should keep fans satiated before the next full instalment.
