Game review: DMC: Devil May Cry

The first big release of 2013 is Capcom’s reboot of their Devil May Cry franchise, set in a hyper-stylised world where banks and media monopolies are controlled by demonic forces.

DMC: Devil May Cry

Capcom, PS3/Xbox 360, £35.99 to £38.99

It’s a blunt analogy told with a hefty dose of black humour (Alex Garland is credited as story supervisor) as you fight back as Dante, a rebellious half angel/half demon.

There’s a dizzying array of special attacks to master as you unleash both angelic and demonic powers (you’ll need fast reactions and dextrous fingers to truly take advantage of the elegant, seemingly endless, combos you can perform). An adrenalin rush of action that doesn’t let go until the final monster falls beneath your sword.
