The classic 60 foot Racing Yacht Bloodhound, which was once owned by Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip, in the 1960s, was today craned out of Leith docks as part of an annual maintenance programme by The Royal Yacht Britannia.

The legendary racing yacht is currently berthed alongside the five-star visitor attraction in Edinburgh. Bloodhound was lifted out of the water onto a cradle on the Quayside, next to Ocean Terminal, where the hull will be cleaned and painted. The interior cabins will then be refitted to plans following those of the original yacht when in Prince Philip’s ownership.
Working on the yacht will be Britannia’s Maintenance team and members of the original Royal Yachtsmen, or “Yotties” who served on board Britannia while in Royal service.
