“Edinburgh has so many wonderful cultural events. For me, I love August and its crowds”

Have you got one, stand-out, most memorable ever Edinburgh event? The births of both my sons and the impeccable service and care at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

What’s your favourite shopping area in the city?

I wouldn’t say there’s one in particular. My husband is an incredible shopper or, better said, he has an incredible eye. He finds pieces scattered throughout town.

What’s your favourite new find in the city?

I love Café Royal for its uncomplicated atmosphere with impeccable service.

What’s your favourite restaurant, café or deli?

Broughton Delicatessen for my much needed coffee and fresh bread, I love Ondine for seafood and I’m looking forward to experiencing Jamie’s Italian this weekend. It looks wonderful, so I’m hoping it will taste wonderful too.

What’s your favourite cinema?

I love the Filmhouse and the Cameo. I love going to the movies, either on my own or with my kids.

What’s your favourite cultural Capital event?

Edinburgh has so many wonderful cultural events. I love August and its crowds and really enjoy the Book Festival.

What’s your favourite outdoor space in or around the city?

Either Arthur’s Seat or Portobello beach for walks, breathing, and some reflective time.

What’s your favourite physical activity in the city?

Going to the beach or the Commonwealth Pool with the boys.

What’s your favourite museum?

I love the National Museum of Scotland, which is great for kids as well, but it depends on what exhibitions are on.

What’s the biggest date in your diary this month?

Monday, 20th of August, when the Fashion Festival is over and we can, hopefully, sit back and celebrate it.

What’s your dream weekend break destination and why?

Probably somewhere in the Highlands – it’s not too far but far enough to feel you are away.

Who is your local hero – alive or dead?

I don’t really believe in heroes.
