Lynne McCrossan: Stylish photo shoot is Taylor-made for Polly

THE universe works in mysterious ways.

Dismiss this at your peril, for once you tap into the weird and wonderful, the world feels a much warmer place.

A few weeks ago, I got a call from chum and owner of Jane Davidson. Sarah was sussing out the likelihood of me helping out her childhood friend.

The Goddess in question was
Pollyanna McIntosh. You may know her as Phillipa Edwards from BBC 4’s Bob Servant Independent.

The Edinburgh lass has come a long way since her modelling days for Charlie Miller if a role in a film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s Filth, out this autumn, is anything to go by.

So coming up with concepts for a fashion shoot with Polly as my muse wasn’t the most taxing thing I’ve tackled lately. Compelled to the computer for fashion story concepts, I was overcome by thoughts of
actress Liz Taylor in her hedonistic heyday. One call to the Playhouse later and the scene was set. Spookily, when I spoke to Polly about turning her into Liz for the day she said she’d been haunted by Taylor for weeks.

It just shows you the power of popping thoughts out into the universe – you never know what’ll come back.

Listen up brides-to-be, or vintage freaks like me. The Vintage Wedding Show is coming back to its spiritual home of Mansfield Traquair on March 17. There is a real 1950s, two-piece suit vibe floating around the wedding world at the moment, which is the perfect antidote to anyone worried about looking like an extra from My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
