THEY may have earned the growing ire of communities across Scotland, but German designer Karl Lagerfeld was more than happy to use enormous wind turbines as the backdrop to his new collection launched at Paris fashion week yesterday.

Mr Lagerfeld took to the “green” theme by transforming the floors of the expansive Grand Palais at French fashion house Chanel into solar panels as part of his spring/summer 2013 women’s wear show.

Synthetic fabric was a recurring theme of the ready-to-wear collection, with classic Chanel looks using tweed, wool and pearls all reworked for warmer weather.

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez watched on from the front row, alongside daughter Emme, with rapper Kanye West also among the onlookers.
