Let the street be your catwalk this Hogmanay by bringing in the New Year in style. Marrying trends and textures is a fun way to approach the dress code, but really anything goes.

Of course, if you are hitting the street party the priority is to stay warm, but that doesn’t mean you have to huddle up inside something ugly.

Little sparkly dresses don’t have to be sidelined just because you’ll be grooving in the Gardens. Mix Mongolian furs over the top of a frock for opulent warmth and layer up with leggings underneath. This also allows for a little flat boot action, eliminating achey feet at home time.

Gorgeous oversized knits can be just the antidote to dressing down dramatic full skirts. Stay within the same colour tone on top and bottom to ensure the outfit remains pulled together. Go for chiffons or netting on bottom if you are piling on a palatial jumper.

Nothing says all-out glam like a full-length evening gown. The long sleeve/floor sweeping skirt combination is a classic come party time. When opting for something as show stopping as a Jenny Packham dress, keep it simple everywhere else. Accessories must stay at a minimum along with hair and make-up as the dress does all the talking.

The girls over at Bebaroque know how to ensemble outfits that make you want to party. The Leith-based design duo have luxurious and elaborate hand-embroidered pieces to fall in love with that will ensure you are no wallflower come midnight.

Have some fun in faux fur. Ombre fabrics fading from dark to light look fabulous over glitzy hot pants and crop tops. From hair to fabric, this faded dip-dye effect will still be a strong look next year.

You can take fur in a different direction by dressing everything right down in a pair of skinny jeans and metallic tops. Floppy hats add a bit of a bohemian vibe.
