Dress sense: Mica Paris

What was your favourite childhood outfit?

It was a dress that I designed and had custom made for my sister's wedding. It was a full-length asymmetrical number in cream jersey and satin.

Best ever bargain?

I'm always getting loads of bargains on the high street – especially cut-price dresses. The secret is to have an eye for the pieces which look expensive – even if they're not.

Who has great style?

Kate Moss has a natural fashion sense and I love Cate Blanchett and Thandie Newton for their classic style.

Name your favourite

high-street shop.

French Connection. Their pieces manage to look young, but not girly.

What are you addicted to buying?

I'm a boots freak. I've got about ten pairs – mostly black but a few brown ones too. I'm dreading the day when I have to pack them away for summer.

Any fashion disasters you'd care to tell us about?

A stars and stripes-print bolero leather jacket, which I wore on the sleeve of my first single, One Temptation, in 1988.

What's your favourite item in your wardrobe?

My gorgeous, figure-hugging Azzedine Alaia dress I bought 15 years ago. It cost about 4,000, an astronomical price, but it's never dated.
