Today, as part of Homecoming 2009, the National Archive of Scotland's Scottish Register of Tartans, in association with The Scotsman, launches a fantastic design competition which may kick-start the career of a future fashion star.

Open to all fashion and design students currently studying in Scotland, this unique project challenges the nation's brightest emerging talent to create a stylish garment, outfit or accessory using tartan from the official register.
