Jeremy Clarkson has insisted plans are well under way for his new motoring show with Richard Hammond and James May and that filming is about to begin in the next few weeks.

The former Top Gear presenter went on Twitter after May claimed during a recent press appearance that they had got “nowhere” with the new show, due to air on Amazon Prime next year.

Clarkson tweeted: “To be clear, May is busy with other stuff but Hammond, (former Top Gear producer Andy) Wilman and I are extremely busy putting our new show together.

“Much is already sorted.”

He added: “Sorry about the lengthy absence from Twitter. These are very very very busy times. Fun though.

“To be even more clear, filming starts in a couple of weeks. And yes, all of us will be involved.”

The trio signed a new deal, reportedly worth millions, with the internet streaming service, during the summer, after their contracts with the BBC were not renewed following Clarkson’s fracas with a Top Gear producer.

May appeared at a press event ahead of a BBC show he is doing called Building Cars Live, where he was asked about the Amazon show.

He said: “We haven’t got a name. We haven’t decided on the content...any of that stuff. So, honestly, nothing, nothing has happened.”
