THE latest James Bond hit Skyfall has made UK box office history after becoming the highest grossing film ever.
• Latest Bond film took £94.28 million in 40 days
• It has surpassed Avatar as the highest grossing film in UK box office history
The film, which stars Daniel Craig as Mr. Bond, broke records after earning £94.28 million in just 40 days.
It has surpassed James Cameron’s epic Avatar, which took £94.03 million over an 11-month period following its release in 2009.
Since its release in the final week of October, the 23rd Bond film has been hailed an international success.
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said: “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema-going audiences in the UK who have made Skyfall the highest grossing film of all time.”
The movie series celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie earlier this year.
In Skyfall, the sophisticated spy’s loyalty to M is tested after villain Raoul Silva takes revenge on Bond’s old boss.
The film also starts Dame Judi Dench and Javier Bardem.
