MORE than 100 Rod Stewart fans were left disappointed last night, after being refused entry to his Christmas show at Stirling Castle, despite having won tickets to see their favourite star in concert.

Audience tickets for ITV’s the singer’s Christmas Special, a collaboration with Kylie Minogue and Michael Bublé, were distributed to expectant fans via an online lottery run by audience research company Lost In TV.

However, dozens of fans last night claimed they were left queuing outside the venue for over an hour after being told their tickets secured them only a “standby slot” for the performance.

Ticket-holders, many of whom had travelled from as far afield as Manchester and Ireland, were finally ushered into a separate area to watch the performance via videolink.
