OLAF Furniss bends his ear to JR Green, two brothers poised to make an impact with a genuinely original mix of folk, accordian and acoustic guitar

WE FIRST encountered teenage brothers JR Green (Jacob and Rory) last year, performing for Music Plus+ at Belladrum.

One year on, they’re poised to make a major impact, having signed a publishing deal with Snow Patrol’s Polar Patrol Publishing and with their debut EP Bring The Witch Doctor due out on 30 October via Hits The Fan Records, which released Frightened Rabbit’s debut LP and Kathryn Joseph’s 2015 Scottish Album of the Year prize-winner. Growing up in Strontian in the northwest Highlands has shaped their genuinely original sound, which mixes traditional folk, accordion and acoustic guitar with sharp, angst-laden lyrics.

The duo perform at Edinburgh’s VoxBox on 18 October with a UK tour commencing in Birmingham on 5 November, followed by Inverness on 7 November and dates in Glasgow, Dunfermline, Edinburgh and Leeds. Listen at http://bit.ly/JRGREENSAMPLER.
