The Isle of Lewis has produced some great musical talents, many of whom have songwriting abilities which belie their age.
Eleanor Nicolson is the latest of these, and at 17 is already an accomplished artist with some striking tunes to her name. Working out of Stornoway’s Wee Studio, she is part of a group promoting gigs at the town’s An Lanntair venue. In 2014 she played both Belladrum and the Heb Celt Festival and followed this up with an appearance at this year’s Celtic Connections. She has made three EPs, combining a great voice with a light country touch and a pop sensibility. Her most recent, entitled White Noise, was released a couple of months ago and features It’s Complicated, one of our favourite tracks of the year. Nicolson plays a free showcase at Xpo North in Inverness on Thursday. Listen to one of Scotland’s most promising acts at https://soundcloud.com/eleanornicolson/its-complicated
