Six of Mark Ronson’s biggest fans received the surprise of a lifetime, when they were invited to record a cover of his hit single, Uptown Funk.

Given the chance as part of MasterCard’s Priceless surprises, Ronson selected the six winners – five of whom are Scottish – from YouTube for the quality and originality of the covers.

Recording at the famous Abbey Road studios in London, the six were under the impression that they would be professionally recording their version of the track, for a documentary about Ronson.

However, when they arrived at the studio, Ronson was waiting for them to produce a special single of all six performing together.

The YouTubers who feature in the cover are vocalist Anna Shields alongside her duet guitarist Blair Crichton, ukulele player John Atkins, cello and violin playing sisters Laura and Sarah Ayoub, and guitarist Ross Campbell.

Mark commented: “It was such a great experience to bring together six very unique talents and produce this new cover of our song. I’m always affected by the fact that talented musicians and singers would take the time to figure out our songs and then post their own interpretations, and I really lucked out with the group we chose—they were all great people as well as super talented. They worked hard and played off each other to create something special.”

It was fantastic to help bring him together a group of his biggest fans through a shared love of his music, and create something so unique. Music fans should watch this space for more Priceless Surprises coming soon.”

Mark Ronson has been nominated for British Male Solo Artist and British Producer of the Year for the upcoming BRIT Awards.

The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard take place Wednesday 24th February at The O2 and will be exclusively broadcast on ITV.
