Thousands of pounds and hundreds of tickets were stolen by the men, who were armed with a gun and pepper spray. No-one was hurt.

Janice Downs, the venue’s club steward, told the Herald: “Hue and Cry have cancelled for now. We had more than 200 tickets in the safe as well as all the ticket money we’d already taken, but it’s all gone.”

She said it was hoped that the show would be rescheduled for March 2015.
