SIR Sean Connery has been voted Scotland’s favourite actor in a cinema poll.

The James Bond star took a quarter of all votes in the Odeon survey of more than 1,000 Scottish residents.

Former Dr Who actor David Tennant came second with 17 per cent of votes and in third place with 12 per cent was Ewan McGregor.

Gerard Butler and Robbie Coltrane completed the top five, with James McAvoy, Peter Capaldi and Alan Cumming also receiving fans’ votes.

Odeon asked people in Scotland to name their favourite star to mark the opening on Friday of a new cinema at Fort Kinnaird in Edinburgh.

FlyResearch surveyed 1,048 Scottish residents on March 11 and 12.
